wavy, curly, bouncy

this time round, the curls are real and they are staying with me!
Photobucket

i went down Kenaris for my hair makeover. They opened up another branch at CentrePoint. I sat in for 6 hours!

Haircut -> Perm -> Color Touchup -> Treatment

looks really blown up ya! haha.. this was taken right after the styling. I bet it wont look like that when i do it on my own.
Photobucket

finally, after years of indecisiveness.. I have gotten it a perm. though i think i should have done the curls all the way, (seems weird for the curls to start at my ears) but i shall try to manage it for now.

short hair next round?

Perfect Multi

Remember the Ettusais Perfect Multi Mascara Giveaway Contest?
Photobucket

The winner, Wen Jing has tried on the mascara and gave a review on it! ;)
Photobucket

“I’m sort of well known for my super straight and stubborn lashes. They are hard to curl and always droop after a few hours. But both my sis and I gave a “wow” after I applied the Perfect Multi Mascara. It really helps to hold the lashes and make them look longer. No clumps at all! And it did not smudge despite a long day out and was very waterproof (tested during rainy day!). Perhaps due to the lightweight nature of the fibers, it held the lashes really well. But it made my lashes look unnaturally thick, perhaps because I only applied one coat. Overall experience – great! (: “

I’m glad she liked it! As for me, after getting tips on how to doll up my eyes at the Ettusais counter, I have also tried on the mascara myself!

Photobucket

Using the coil side, I coated the base of my lashes in a zig-zag movement and upwards. Next I flipped to the comb side and combed through my lashes. I was amazed by the “comb” effect, the ultra fine really combed through every single lash. Just like the Perfect Separate Mascara, they both really gave my lashes a good comb, making every single lash stands out.

Photobucket
I repeated the procedure for 3 times to achieve a full lash look. Loved the skew-cut comb tip! It made it easier to apply on the inner and outer upper lashes plus the lower lashes. I always have difficulties coating my lower lashes with a normal applicator.

My eyes seldom look so wide open! Ha…

Both Perfect Multi Mascara and Separate Perfect Mascara are retailing at $39.00, available at all Ettusais Counters. Go grab yours today! :D

And they say women are complicated creatures.

I think men are as well complicated. They can’t decide what they want.

If you want to be nice to a girl, go all the way then.

wedding bells

The main reason for my shanghai trip was Miao’s wedding.
这次的上海旅程主要是参加淼的婚礼。

I was put up at my dad’s cousin’s place in Wen Zhou, whom I have never met before. Felt weird initially but thankfully, they were very welcoming.
抵达温州后才知道他们把我安排在阿姨家。好像是爸爸的堂姐,我从来没碰面过。刚开始觉得有些尴尬,还好阿姨一家都很好客,非常热情。

The traditions there differ slightly from Singapore. On the wedding day, the groom will lunch together with the bride’s family, even before the tea ceremony. After lunch, he will then return home and gather his brothers and cars to head over again to get the bride and her relatives.
婚礼当天,淼先到素珍家共用午餐,之后再返回预备迎接新娘。

I wanted to tag along but, I would be the only girl. so…. i waited at the hotel for their arrival.
我是很想跟着一起去接新娘,可是只有我一个女生,好像有些不妥当,我也只好在酒店等候。

Another group of “brothers” were preparing for the grand entry. Laying out the firecrackers and fireworks.

Miao was really nervous on stage. He sounded weird.. lol..
淼表现得好紧张,声音怪怪。哈哈。

They arranged for some games on stage and I got volunteered up. It’s drinking “herbal tea” contest.
他们办了几个余兴节目,我被供上台,比赛喝老王吉。

and yes, i won a plushie for my niece.

during dinner, the couple did the usual thank you drink around the tables.

After the relatives had left, it’s time for the games and friends!

we made a hole on the beer bottle and got Miao to use his knees to pour out the beer. it was hilarious!
Photobucket

next was to drink the 2 cans of coconut milk dangling over the bride’s shoulder.
Photobucket

follow on was picking the 2 red dates in the huge bowl of beer.
Photobucket

then, he had to peel the logan and feed his wife.
Photobucket

lastly, was the choosing the right can. There’s 21 cans with only 1 empty can. For every failed attempt by him, the brothers will have to finish 2 glasses of herbal tea. And for the  bride, the sisters have to drink up 2 glasses of beer. This is a really tough game! They made 19 unsuccessfully attempts! I ended up helping the sisters with 3 glasses of beer. They only got it right when there was 2 cans left. haha..
Photobucket

and the night ended off with a polariod photo. =)

the dual effect project

What are these all about?
Photobucket

It’s the launch for Ettusais’ 3 new products @ Raw Kitchen Bar.
Attended the party before I left for Shanghai. ;)

The all-new Ettusais White Shooter Dual Effect and White Serum Dual Effect! Fresh in from Japan!
Photobucket

There’s also another new product which will only be revealed in November! ;)

Here’s Sheradine giving us the insights of the new Dual Effect products!

The 2 Dual Effect products:
Photobucket

As its name says it all, the new Ettusais White Shooter Dual Effect has the combined properties of Moisturizing and Whitening! How awesome is that! Not only does it keep our skin hydrated and stops the spread of acne bateria, it also helps to lighten scars, prevent pigmentaton and stops acne from getting worse. With the star ingredient – AC control oil, it forms a thin veil over the skin to lock in the moisture.

After washing your face with Ettusais Medicated Acne Gentle Wash, prep with your skin with Ettusais Skin Verison Up. Pump 2 pumps of White Shooter on your cotton pad and apply in a circular motion onto your face.

For Ettusais White Serum Dual Effect, it has all the goodness of the White Shooter in a concentrated form, which is extra effective as well. It targets areas that are blemish-prone and for serious blemish spots and scars. Also, it has a hyper sealing effect that keeps the intense ingredients within so it can work effectively quickly!

Squeeze out a little on dab on affected areas after using applying White Shooter.

You know what!? It’s exactly what I need! Look at what Shanghai did to me:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 bumps.
Photobucket

Not only did the mosquitoes bite my face, I’m also having bad breakout. :(

See those huge acne bumps on my forehead and the scars on my cheeks? With all the road works, construction and pollution going on in Shanghai, the air quality over there is not so great. My skin is covered with so much dust everyday. And yes, my fault for not drinking enough water there and sleeping late. Hai. All the external aggressors – how can I possibly have fair clear skin.

Okie, I’m gonna try out the Ettusais Dual Effect product. Hopefully they will show some results soon! Stay tune to my next post for my review. *Excited*

tracing the roots

National Day in China is crazy. Everyone rushes to finish their work on hand and gets ready to return to hometown. I had trouble getting a train ticket to Wen Zhou. It’s was totally sold out, even the standing tickets!

I had to hitch a ride from Leon. It was pouring crazily.
Photobucket

The journey took 9 hours with traffic jam. Pretty much horrible. Can u believe the jam was 40km? That’s like traffic jam from pasir ris to boon lay!!?

We made a stop for lunch.
Photobucket

had rice dumplings, in plastic bag. Gee…
Photobucket

The clouds started clearing up when we were reaching Wen zhou.
Photobucket

Along the way, I was truckloads of animals!! haha.. i was so excited! a truckload of pigs – big fat pigs. so amusing! lol. took a photo of the goats.. Leon kept making fun of me taking photos of them. Can’t I take photos? hello, we don’t have these in Singapore.
Photobucket

caught the sun set while we drove into Wen Zhou. it was literally an GOLDEN yolk.
Photobucket

Everyone asked how I felt “going back” to Wen Zhou, where my roots are. Seriously, it’s “going to” and not “back”. I don’t feel any connection with this place. Not even my mom stepped foot there before. All that striked me was my grandpa. On his tombstone, it carved “Jia Yi Xian”, and now, I’m here at his birthplace. I missed him.

This is Ou Bei, a part of Wen Zhou.
